Wire Erosion

Wire erosion is the process were a metallic wire (electrode) is used to cut a programmed contour in a work-piece. Each electrical discharge creates a crater in the work-piece to remove material. The wire can be inclined, making it possible to create components with taper or differing profiles at the top & bottom of the work-piece.

Working repeatedly to tolerances of 3-5 microns of accuracy.

This precision cutting wire eroder allows for work in a variety of materials to include aluminium, steel, tool steels, uddeholm tool steel, stainless steel, brass, bronze, copper, titanium or specialised alloys. Applications include components for automotive and aerospace industries and precision general engineering.

The machine provides the capacity to cut 4 axis profiles, when combined with state of the art camtek peps software. Typically for use on production parts or tooling.

The charmilles Robofil 290 has a working envelope of X 290mm Y 200mm Z 150mm.

The machine provides the capacity to cut 4 axis profiles, when combined with state of the art camtek peps software. Typically for use on production parts or tooling.

With wire erosion cutting is only of conductive materials such as aluminium, steel, tool steels, uddeholm tool steel, stainless steel, brass, bronze, copper, titanium or specialised alloys. Applications include components for automotive and aerospace industries and precision general engineering.
